There are several types of dentures, each with their own merits, and our team at Quali-Teeth Dental Care can discuss the options with you to create a bespoke treatment plan to deliver the best results for you.
Complete, or Full, dentures replace all the teeth in the upper or lower jaw.
Partial dentures replace only those teeth that are missing, and sit alongside any remaining teeth.
Immediate dentures are made before any extractions, and are fitted immediately after the teeth have been removed. This means you don’t have to be without teeth whilst your gums are healing. However, bone and gums can shrink during the healing phase, for up to three months, resulting in the immediate denture becoming looser. Your immediate denture might need to be relined, or even remade.
The denture frame can be made from either plastic (acrylic), or metal (chrome). Chrome is stronger so the frame can be kept thinner, and it is usually longer-lasting. Acrylic needs to be thicker to achieve the same strength, but it is more easily adjusted, making it a suitable short-medium term solution to either stabilise or assess the remaining teeth.
